GHBT- 'Buddy Carruthers, Wide Receiver' by Jean C. Joachim Tour - #AuthorInterview & #Giveaway @JeanJoachim @GHBTours

Buddy Carruthers, Wide Receiver
First & Ten #2
By- Jean C. Joachim
Genre- Sports Romance

Known for his record-breaking stats and womanizing ways, wide receiver, Buddy Carruthers, would give it all up for one chance to win the only woman he ever wanted, Emmy Meacham. Hard-won games, and traveling half the season kept Buddy from pursuing his secret passion. Even if he managed to corner her for a moment, would she still care?

Now a rock star known as Emerald, Emmy lived her life on the road with no time for love. In her dreams, she longed to turn back the clock and spend another night with Buddy. But lies and deceit had kept them apart for five years. Would a chance meeting wash away those years or cause old wounds to resurface? Could two lives traveling in opposite directions make room for love or would they continue to spin, out of sync, and always alone?

And here is our interview with Jean C. Joachim!

Thanks for stopping by Big Girls Heart Books! Let’s start off with you telling us a little bit about yourself and your latest project.

I started writing nonfiction, advertising copy and articles for parenting newspapers. I’ve only been writing fiction for about five years, but I love it! I’m tapping into my love of football to write a football series. I fell in love with football in high school. It was our big team sport. After raising two sons, I’ve become a football lover again. So I’m writing a football romance series. The books require lots of research, but that just adds to the fun for me.

When did you know you wanted to be an author?

Little kids have professions they look up to early on. When I was seven I thought being a writer was the most exciting thing in the world. I was a rabid reader early on and still am. I started making up stories when I was little. I always wanted to be a writer.

What are three things you must have to write?

Peace and quiet. A comfortable chair or sofa. A cup of tea.

What’s your writing space look like?

I write in the living room early in the morning. Sometimes I retreat to my son’s room and use his tiny desk space. The room is cluttered, but I’m alone there and that works for me.
I don’t have a steady writing space, but it doesn’t interfere with my ability to focus.

Why do you write sports romance? What do you love about it?

Besides the sexy uniforms and the sweaty guys? I love the competition, the physicality of it -- the men are always testing their bodies, their physical ability to run, throw, tackle and be victorious. Outsmarting the other team has now become an important element of the game of football, too. Plays like the fake field goal have given the game some mystery. That’s another thing I love about sports -- you don’t know the outcome. Anything can happen at the last minute to change the game. It’s not predictable. i find myself on the edge of my seat watching some games.

What role does music play in your writing? Do you have one album or playlist that works best for you?

Music plays an important role, more so in some books than others. The song “I Can’t Smile Without You” is going to play a pivotal role in the book I’m writing now, Pete Sebastian, Coach. I have linked theme songs in my mind with books. When I was writing Love Lost & Found with Ben Tanner, the song Kokomo was a prop in the beginning, then became an inspiration. I often played it over and over again while writing the story. I don’t have a particular playllist, but a song will leap out at me as perfect for  a particular book.

What can we expect next from you?

First, I must finish all six books in the football series. I’m on #3 now. There might be a seventh, too. I’m debating. Then, I have a series of four cowboy stories riding around in the back of my head. I have some novellas I’m planning to tackle, when the smoke clears!
