Review- Grip of Mortality by C.L. Foster

Grip of Mortality
The Imprint Series #1
By C.L. Foster
Published- September 29th, 2013

The curse of the Cortez family followed Mira Cortez and a decision needed to be made; it wasn’t if she will go but a matter of when. Mira won’t sit by and wait while her mate is sent on a mission that could end him and their chance to break her family’s curse. She must join her mate and use her hidden ability to protect him and their way of life, before they all become Endangered.

The family of wereleopards must battle for their lives against their greatest enemy... their own family.

With the odds against them, everything depends on The Cortez Quintuplets. Combine they’re a force to be reckoned with but when Rozar Cortez meets her mate, everything changes. With all on the line, she must choose: continue to fight with her family and use her curse ability or take a chance on love even if he’s not what he seems.

Will Rozar follow her heart or will she face being trapped by the Grip of Mortality?

Grip of Mortality is the first book in The Imprint Series by the always wonderful C.L. Foster. The series follows the five Cortez sisters--Mira, Rozar, Audire, Nidor, and Saber (and honestly, how frickin' awesome are those names?), and centers on them trying to rid themselves of their dickhead *insert inappropriate line of profanity here* father, Moreno, and step-mother, Celeste. I won't say anymore than that because ***spoilers*** and that's just a big no-no around here.

The girls were cursed at birth and each of them have a supremely heightened sense, so to speak. Grip of Mortality centers mostly on Rozar, who has the ability to know/sense things based on touch. She is a little ball of sass with crazy pink hair and I absolutely love her. Her budding romance with Shade (*drooling everywhere* and oh how I love him)--

--was hilarious and adorable and there were many times I was sitting there like--

--because they are some pigheadedly obvious wereleopards sometimes and I just want them to snuggles forever in Rozar's hammock bed. *oh ze naughty thoughts, oh my*... And no, I'm not telling you if they got a HEA or not--you're going to have to read it yourself. Which believe me, is so totally worth it. ^_^

There was a scene or two I wish had been a little more detailed (I like to cry, okay?) BUT other than that, Foster deserves many plates of cookies for this one!! I loved every minute I spent reading this and I can't wait to see more from the Cortez sisters!

My Rating:

About the Author

CL is eclectic, geeky, positive, nature-loving and completely non-"normal" (just the way she likes to be). She has been a fan of literature since she was a small child and finally decided to take her dreams (both waking and sleeping!) and do something positive with them.

CL has lived all over the world and has a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, minoring in Psychology and Forensics. Which means you don't want to cross her because she knows how and where to hide a body so it's never found! She proudly admits to hearing voices in her head, but at times, her characters' impromptu visits can be rude and annoying. Thankfully, she has adequate patience for their shenanigans and can out ninja them any day of the week.

CL's voice is boisterous, sassy, and not finished yet! Stay tuned!
